Aid for Abandoned Animals

The AWARE Foundation recently reached out to express urgent concerns regarding the influx of animals at their Ashram. With over 25 new entrants, many of whom are abandoned, motherless puppies and kittens, the foundation faces significant challenges. Many of these animals suffer from major disabilities, geriatric conditions, and age-related illnesses. The overall expenses for their care have tripled, prompting a heartfelt appeal for support in the form of medicines, food, bedding, and contributions towards staff wages.

In response to this urgent need, The Pratibimb Charitable Trust is proud to have donated medicines for animal care valued at over ₹1 lakh. This contribution aims to provide essential medical supplies, supplements, and critical blood work examinations for the animals in need. We remain committed to standing by the AWARE Foundation and continue to advocate for the welfare of these vulnerable animals. Together, our efforts highlight the power of community support in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in distress.

Weddings with Dignity

On May 1st, 2024, Pratibimb Charitable Trust organized a community wedding in Vikramgadh. Pravin Manker, along with three of his volunteers, Tripti Nakhare, Bhushan Nakhare, and Sushma Sureka, attended the wedding.

This community wedding aimed to provide underprivileged couples with a beautiful and memorable ceremony.
Marriage is a social and legal recognition for a couple to live together with dignity and provide legitimacy to their progeny. In several economically backward regions marriage is an unaffordable ritual and couples choose to live together with heads lowered, avoiding eye contact, socially ostracised. Pratibimb had the good fortune of funding a collective marriage ceremony of nine couples of the Dhartari Samaj at Vikramgad, Palghar district, Maharashtra state on 1st May 2024.

Project update of the Check Dam
Date: April 7, 2021

The check dam construction has reached the final stage & work is progressing at a fast pace.

Work in Progress of the Check Dam
Date: Mar 15, 2021

The construction work of the check dam is in progress at Savarde village, about 40 km from Kasara or about 150 km from Mumbai to complete the check-dam.

The next stage would be to provide a solar-powered water pump, storage tank and water filtration system to provide clean drinking water.

The whole project is funded 100% by Pratibimb Charitable Trust, whose core activity is conducting life-improvement course called Life and Breath (basic course) and Life is Mind Body Spirit (LiMBS – the advance course). These are courses that teach breathing exercises, meditation and laws of living. The funds collected from students during the conduct of these courses are utilised for such charitable work.

This work has inspired students to voluntarily donate handsomely. Pratibimb Charitable Trust is now planning to fund the construction of two more such dams in 2021. We are just waiting for the first project to be declared ready before we embark on the next two.

Activity begins: Initial pictures taken on the check-dam site on 22nd March 2021

Commencement of Check Dam Project at Savarde Village
Date: Feb 23, 2021
On Tuesday, 23rd February 2021, Sumeet Agarwal (LiMBS 2), Naresh Padia, Sudarshan Nair and Pravin Manker from Pratibimb Charitable Trust, visited Dharichapada village, Sakhri Gram Panchayat, Mokhada taluka, about 40 km from Kasara, (115 km from Mumbai) Maharashtra India.

There is a stream that flows from the hills over a bed of rocks and stones. Despite very heavy rainfall (about 2500 mm), the water doesn’t seep in but drains away. By February, the riverbed is dry and the surrounding villagers have to literally struggle to get drinking water. Many migrate in search of occupation and the children are destabilised with no access to consistent education. Animals and cattle suffer due to lack of water.

Check-dams built strategically at different points along the same stream, can block the water from flowing away and getting wasted. The overflow from one check-dam is blocked by the next check-dam and so on.

The stored water can satisfy needs of villagers along the river banks. In the case of Sakhri, we are talking of about 2000 individuals, or about 450 families.

The dam is a wall constructed across the river, about 35 M length, 1 M foundation, 3.5 to 4 M height and 1 M width. The width also serves as a bridge for humans and animals to cross over. So in effect it is a bund-cum-bridge. The estimated water blocked will be 1.5 crore litres. (15,000,000 L = 15 million litres)

The project will take about a month to complete and the estimated cost is about ₹15 lakhs. (INR 1.5 million)

The project has been a brainchild of Dr. Deepak Chaudhari, who is the past district governor of Lions International District 3231A-3 (Bandra to Dahanu) and currently multiple district chairperson for check-dams. So far he has executed 40+ check-dams.

Mr. Rahul Tiwrekar, is the representative of Swaraj Dighanta Foundation, Nasik that has constructed all these dams. The estimated life of a dam is 20 years.

Pratibimb Charitable Trust has committed 100% financial support for this project which is slated for completion by end of April 2021. The funds come from the contribution of students who enrol for our courses Life and Breath and LiMBS. Mr Sumeet will be supervising the project and is the project coordinator from Pratibimb Charitable Trust.

Homes for Adivasi Families

Donation to Vanvashi Kalyan Ashram, Maharashtra for construction of houses for 16 poor Adivasi families at Bhostewadi, at Konkan Region. Houses were damaged due to Nisarg Cyclone.
Amount: 8,00,000/-

Mr. Naresh Padia handing over a cheque of Rs. 8,00,000/- to representatives of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram on behalf of Pratibimb Charitable Trust.

Cyclone Nisarga left a trail of devastation over the Raigad District of Maharashtra. Many lost everything that they had. Pratibimb Charitable Trust has put its shoulder to the rehabilitation efforts being carried out by the NGO Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram by funding the rebuilding of 15 homes at Bhoste Wadi village, near Shrivardhan in Maharashtra’s Raigad District. Fees and donations collected from the students of the Life and Breath and LiMBS courses conducted by Pratibimb Charitable Trust have made this small but sincere effort possible. Today we say ‘THANK YOU’ to all those who have attended & benefited from our courses. Keep visiting this section, as, like you, we too hope to see happier pictures emerge with each passing week.

We are glad to share an update on the rebuilding of the 15 homes from the many that were destroyed by Cyclone Nisarga at Bhoste Wadi village in June this year. Though the natural disaster has faded from public memory, Maharashtra’s coastal communities are still limping back to normalcy. Through the efforts of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram NGO several homes are nearing completion with much of the structural work is done. Yet again, we thank all our students attending the Life and Breath & LiMBS courses, as the fees & donations received have been one of the supporting pillars of this rehabilitation effort.
